Letting Go of the Secrets

When I started this blog several months ago I wanted to be completely honest with you all.  I won't lie some of the things I have shared (like progress pics in tight fitting clothing) have been hard.  This past weekend I made the decision that I wanted to tell all of my secrets.  As hard as it is to share this information I have to smile through the adversity.

I have decided it is time to share my stats with you all. When I started this journey in August I weighed 344.8 lbs.  My current weight is 313.9 lbs although I have fluctuated between 311-315 for the past 4 months. I started out a size 26/28 and am now wearing size 22/24.  I would really like to get down to a size 18 by the end of the year.

When I first started I was so ashamed/scared to share my weight because I feared the unknown reaction of the strangers who might come across that info.  Now I don't care because I am doing something about it.  I figured that hiding that number is giving it power over my life and I don't need that in my life.

Since I have struggled the past few months I decided to updated my progress photos and my measurements (I could kick myself for not doing measurements in the beginning).   Below are my updates.

What are you letting go of this week?

  1. I know how hard struggling with weight loss can be. I haven't been able to lose my baby weight thanks to a thyroid issue and it's been tough. It's very brave of you to be so transparent!

    1. It is definitely a struggle and it is easy to get discouraged. I hope that in all this I can help someone feel less alone in their own struggles. Thanks for reading!

  4. Good for you! Just stick with it - you didn't gain the weight in a couple of months, and you won't lose it all in a couple of months. The numbers on the scale can fluctuate wildly - I would def. focus on your measurements, how your clothes fit, that sort of thing. Keep up the great work!

    1. Amy, you are so right! I am trying to focus on other ways to monitor my success but it is so hard some days. Thanks for reading!

  5. Way to be vulnerable and share the details about something that so many women keep quiet! It loses some of its power when it's actually said out loud, doesn't it? As someone who has been overweight since middle school, I applaud your effort to get healthy and comfortable in your own skin. I've been able to lose over 90 pounds in the last year, so I know you can reach your goal of a size 18 by the end of 2014!

  8. Congratulations on your weight loss this far! And way to be at looking at the size of the pants rather than the number on the scale! This is a fantastic way to look at it, as a slow and steady race rather than a quick fix. Keep up the hard work!
