2014 Goals: 6 month Check In

Can you believe that 2014 is halfway gone already? When 2014 started I made some pretty big goals for myself and I am really determined to meet most of them.  Here are the goals I set for myself (read the original post HERE) and how I am doing:

Health/Fitness Goals
  1. Meet my 100 pound weightloss goal
  2. Complete three 5k races
  3. Complete the BCS half marathon in December 2014.
  4. Commit to working out a minimum of 3 days a week.
  5. Meal prep on Sundays
UPDATE: I have completed one 5K, my workout schedule still needs some work but it is getting better, I decided I wasn't going to do the BCS half but am reconsidering doing a half in January 2015, I am still siting at 30 lbs lost, and meal prep hasn't really gone well.

Academic Goals
  1. Manage my study time better.
  2. Try to get at least one 'A' each semester.
UPDATE: My first semester in 2014 I got 3 A's, and I feel I have managed my course work slightly better.  This is going to be important to mater before Fall because I will be taking 15 hours in the Fall (apparently I like to punish myself,

Spiritual Goals
  1. Get to know Jesus better by reading the Gospel.
  2. Use my prayer journal everyday
  3. Count my blessings more often
  4. Go to mass faithfully every Sunday and actively seek the Holy Spirit in my heart.
  5. Engage in random acts of love and kindness whenever possible.
UPDATE: I still need lots of work in this area.  I still struggle with putting Jesus at the forefront of my life.  I have become better at recognizing my blessings as well as trying to participate in random acts of kindness.

Financial Goals
  1. Make and stick to our family budget.
  2. Save more and spend less.
  3. Start a savings/college fund for MJ.
  4. Eliminate frivolous purchases.
UPDATE: I have gotten better about my spending.  Still trying to stick to a budget, it seems that we keep having a lot of unexpected expenses.  Madelynn goes to Kindergarten in the Fall, so I am hoping to take some of the money we have been paying in childcare and put it towards her college.

Misc. Goals
  1. Read 4 non-school books
  2. Grow my hair out. {Get ready for some awkward stage hair photos on my instagram.  You can follow me @assignmentamanda.}
UPDATE: I have not read a non-school book yet but have some on the list.  As for growing my hair, other than a trim and reshape I haven't cut it yet even though I really want to most days.  It is now long enough to get in a decent pony tail so that helps.

How are you doing on your 2014 goals?

  1. My goals have been up and down! Keep at the running - I've never been in love with running, but I love how I feel when I complete the run. Finishing a half marathon is one of the best feelings in the world! Good luck!

  2. As I always say, some progress is better than no progress. You are doing awesome. Congratulations your weight loss thus far. My main goal this year was to have a debt-free wedding and we did it! Now I need to set some new goals. :-)

  3. You inspire me to do better every time I read your written goals! I didn't write down goals this year, I did the one word thing and my word is love. Sometimes I want to kick it to the curb, but I can really say that love is on my mind a lot and it helps me walk in love with my fellow man when sometimes I simply don't feel like it. :)
